Do I Need To Buy Organic Coffee? Is our coffee toxic?
Hey it’s Coach Michele! I love a good cup of coffee! You? Just the taste and warmth is enough for me embrace my inner morning cheerleader…”Team Morning!” While coffee packs a bunch of health benefits, we also need to be aware of the fact that it is a heavily sprayed crop. Let’s dive into the perks and why going organic might just be your ultimate win!
First off, let’s talk about why coffee is more than just a energy and alert boost, if you are drinking caffeinated coffee. While searching Pub Med studies and the Mayo Clinic, is saw that researchers are looking into coffee consumption and reduced risks of various health conditions and diseases, including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s Disease, heart attack, stroke, liver disease and certain cancers. Although studies are still being done, it is interesting to see our beloved morning beverage going in this direction. What do you think?
So what’s the hype about organic coffee? Does it matter? Well….before you take that next sip, here is the nitty gritty of what you should now….coffee is a heavily sprayed crop. Studies have shown that even after coffee is processed, pesticides still could exist. This is where organic coffee comes in.
Organic coffee is grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, making it a safer and more eco-friendly choice. The downside….it is much more expensive then traditional coffee, which can be hard especially these days. So in my research, I tried to find some that are more affordable than others: Newman’s Own for a Keurig and Allegro for a ground option you can use in a Moka or other pot.
So now I ask…..how do you like to brew it? Me…for the morning…a quick Keurig gets me going. I love the simplicity of this machine and I get a delicious cup of coffee every time. My husband…oh he is hard core in the morning. He brews it in he moka, on the stove top for a perfect cup every time. I love a good cup of espresso from a moka….there is nothing like it. It always brings me back to drinking pots of espresso after school with my friend Maria. #Ads
