#3 Rules to Avoid Seasonal Weight Gain: A Girlfriend’s Guide to Staying Balanced — Not Bloated — This Fall + Holiday Season
You know that magical time of year when the world suddenly smells like apple cinnamon, and people start making pumpkin bread “just because,” and somehow… leggings become both fashion and possibly survival?
Well…Welcome to Bloating Season. (Cue Music)
We kick it off with Halloween candy and end it with a New Year’s toast. Although we know what happened… it can feel like it all just kind of crept up on us. Sugar, alcohol, stress, late nights, inflammation, hormones, sore bones and muscles. You name it, we have it coming at us and HOT! There are however, a few simple tips and tricks within our control that we can all do to enjoy the holiday feeling more balanced and not bloated!
Let’s lay the ground rules to approach this season with the hope and intention of being balanced not over bloated:
- RULE #1 You CAN and SHOULD enjoy the holiday and the treats it has to offer, without feeling bad, guilty or like you are the only one feeling bloated.
- RULE #2 Eat normal meals as much as you can. In other words, don’t throw your health routine out completely. Even if you have 5 days of dinner parties to go to during the holiday. You would still have 2 other meals each day to eat, time for healthy snacks that pack nutrition and your daily water intake. Keep all of those “normal meals and practices” going. If you don’t have healthy practices yet, let’s talk, so I can help you!
- RULE #3 Keep moving or start moving. Notice I said moving, not “start the hardest exercise routine that you’ve ever done”, that you won’t start because you still need the perfect clothing and time to get there and back, but you have to do holiday shopping. Get what I’m saying here? Even something as simple as walking the halls and taking the stairs for 10-15 minutes MORE than you already do, could possibly make a huge difference in how you feel. If you are a mall person, when you are shopping do an extra lap around the mall to get a little something more in.
- Bonus: Prioritize building in a little time to relax. Not wrap presents and chill, seriously just chill.
These are solid rules to master for this season and beyond to feel more balanced- not bloated!
This fall and holiday season, I’ll be sharing real-life, doable upgrades to help you celebrate fully while staying energized, balanced and not stressed and puffy.
I’m going to paste in my teas here. I am a coffee drinker, but these teas have been great for my family’s digestion.
